The various sections of this website serve as a portfolio to highlight my various skills and talents; which are, mostly, in the areas of website design, graphic design and photography. I have a small home business and can provide a range of services tailored to suit your needs either in any one of my specific areas of expertise, or any combination of them at once.

Website Design

I like to think of myself as a 'Graphic Website Designer' which means that I produce websites which are less focused on flashy graphics and fancy technical tricks, and more along the line of interactive online adverts. My focus in any website I produce is the content, because if a website doesn't have good content then all the designers in the world can't make it interesting.

The way that I see best to producing website designs are as a means of putting across the information in such a way as is clear, concise and easy to interpret and understand. The design needs to be such that the information within is the main focus, and the design itself very much secondary; although the design needs to be interesting enough to grasp the viewers attention, initially; so it is a fine line, and can be a challenging task at times.

Graphic Design

The title of 'Graphic Designer' gives me licence to cover a wide variety of things - from posters and leaflets to business cards, to magazine layouts and adverts. In professional terms this is actually the area with which I've had little oppurtunity to prove myself, but merely as just a hobby I have been interested in design in graphical terms for longer than I have website design.

As almost an offshoot from this I have quite a keen interest in the ancient art of Calligraphy. I often like to handwrite with a broad pen, rather than merely rely on a computerised type-face, and this can add a very beautiful, very personal touch to any piece of design work. The time and patience involved really shows through, and this attention to detail can produce high-quality finished products.

Phototography

The title of 'Photographer' could, technically, be given to anyone who ever picks up a camera. I personally see myself as a fairly amateur photographer, and perhaps modesty isn't the best thing when trying to sell myself, but hopefully my portfolio will speak for itself.

Photography is still mostly just a hobby for me and, with limited equipment and limited mobility, I might not ever make it into much of a professional venture - but I do have a fairly vast portfolio, increasing day by day, so I would be happy for my current work to be used. I would welcome the oppurtunity to work under direction, to someone else's ideas, or to be given creative licence enough to produce work for someone who liked my eye.

As my technical skills continue to improve, the quality of my photographs improve too. I present a wide range of my work here, in various genres - some even defying genre, though not by design - and if nothing else, hope that it brings as much joy to others as it does to me.
